Each theme described below will apply to all age programs within the K-7th grade groups.

ANIMALS AND PLANTS ON THE MOVE: JUNE 26 - 30

Animals and plants do not have it easy. They must survive some of the world’s most fierce natural occurrences like drought, floods, and blizzards! Learn about how animals and plants move and survive nature’s fury.

CREATIVITY IN NATURE: JULY 3, 5 - 7

Let your creativity soar by using nature as your medium and canvas! Can you build structures, paint pictures, and tell stories about the world around you? Show us what you can create!

PRIMITIVE WILDERNESS SURVIVAL (with campout option): JULY 10 - 14

Humans need certain things to survive. Some of these things include fire, water, food, space and air. This week we will explore how to survive using primitive skills such as boiling water, fire bows, and fishing with limited equipment. We will also study primitive traps and learn how to make pine needle tea.

A Thursday overnight tent camping option is available for this session and must be registered separately.

WET n WILD I: JULY 17 - 21

Summertime is HOT! We will be playing water games around the barn and along the trail. Explore all of Woldumar’s water sources while cooling off in the woods.

MODERN WILDERNESS SURVIVAL (with campout option): JULY 24 - 28

Water filters, flint and steel, backpacking stoves, and fishing all play a role in modern wilderness survival. Learn about gear that makes wilderness recreation easier now more than ever! You will even have an opportunity to take home your very own piece of char cloth.

A Thursday overnight tent camping option is available for this session and must be registered separately.

WET n WILD II: JULY 31 - AUGUST 4

The Grand River is home to an abundance of wildlife. We can search for geese, ducks, water bugs, snakes and many other species in and around the river. Spend some time exploring by boat or canoe.

I LIKE TO MOVE IT, MOVE IT! AUGUST 7 - 11

This is an action packed week of exploring Woldumar from top to bottom! Each day, campers will play games that focus on body movement. If hiking, animal yoga and tag games sound like a good time, this is the camp session for you. Be sure to eat your breakfast!

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING I & II: JULY 10 - 14 and JULY 17 - 21

Our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is a longstanding tradition at Woldumar. CIT prepares teens to assume some of the responsibility of guiding younger campers through their experience at summer camp. CITs leave our program prepared to do great things with youth – whether that’s tutor, coach, babysit, or even become a counselor right here at Woldumar.

Week one, CIT’s will spend time bonding, developing leadership skills, and having fun learning games, crafts, and what it takes to be a summer camp counselor. CIT’s shine in week two by leading the games and crafts they have mastered. Following the completion of CIT training, participants will be offered opportunities to continue their development by volunteering at Camp Discovery for the remainder of the summer.

ECO CAREERS: JUNE 26 - 30

Have your ever been asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Most of us have heard this at one time or another in our lives. If you love the outdoors, and would like to explore possible career paths in nature, then this camp is for you.

Each day, campers will learn about life in eco-careers such as water quality testing engineering, veterinary medicine, conservation, and what a work day is like in the life of your very own nature center staff! The transition from child to young adult is an exciting time and we would love to be a part of it!
